A market visit next Saturday could be part treasure hunt, part Halloween outing. Wirral Council's 22 October announcement sets out a new Birkenhead Market programme for 31 October, with vintage finds, children’s activities and independent traders in the mix.
The indoor car boot sale is scheduled for 9am to 1pm, with more than 120 sellers expected. Pupils from Cathcart Street Primary School have prepared 30 decorated pumpkins for a display from Friday 30 October, and visitors will be invited to vote for a favourite. A market-wide trick-or-treat trail is also planned for younger visitors.
Looking a little further ahead, the council lists craft markets on 7 November and 5 December, with local makers, music and family activities. These dates are upcoming plans, so check the market's current information before travelling or booking a seller place.
Our photograph shows the market building in 2009, not this year's traders, pumpkins or visitors. If you are organising your own club stall or maker event, a clear sign and a welcoming team can make browsing easier; our separate drinkware ideas below are independent of the market programme.
