A good day out often depends on people you never see on stage. Wirral has plenty to celebrate in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards 2026 shortlist, announced by the council on 15 October, from familiar venues to the people making visitors feel welcome.
Floral Pavilion and Future Yard are both shortlisted for Entertainment Venue of the Year. Floral Pavilion colleague Sandy Davies is also in the Unsung Hero category, bringing the welcome behind the performance into the spotlight.
There is variety beyond the stage: Eureka! Science + Discovery is shortlisted for both a large visitor attraction award and accessible and inclusive tourism. New Brighton Creative Futures appears in the regenerative tourism and independent tourism business categories.
These are nominations, with winners still to come. The ceremony for the 2026 awards takes place at Liverpool Cathedral on 4 February 2027. For anyone planning a local outing, the shortlist offers a starting point; check each venue directly for its current programme and booking information.
