What would you put at the heart of a year celebrating Birkenhead? Its music, its makers, a favourite meeting place—or something the rest of the country has yet to discover? The town’s culture partnership is inviting people who live, work, study or spend time here to help shape its UK Town of Culture 2028 bid.
The public questionnaire is open until Wednesday 28 October and takes less than five minutes. Throughout October, people can also draw or write their ideas on postcards at venues including Future Yard, the Williamson Art Gallery, Eureka!, The Hive and Wirral libraries.
Birkenhead is among 15 shortlisted towns. That is a place in the competition, rather than a win: the eventual overall winner will receive £3 million for its programme. For now, the practical opportunity is to tell the partnership what a memorable local culture year could look like.
